Ann F. Gore

Born March 21, 1943, Ann Felton Gore, 82, passed away on January 27, 2026 due to prolonged complications from a stroke suffered in 2010.

She is survived by her three step-children: Serge Hunkins (Chandra), Alain Hunkins (Mary Clark), and Joanna Cullinan; five step-grandchildren: Theodore, Lucas, Kaia, Alexander, and Miranda; sisters Linda McCreless (Patrick) and Maureen Marcus (Richard); nephew Michael McCreless, niece Erin McCreless and their families; and many beloved friends. She is preceded in death by parents Rev. Maurice Felton and Carolyn Yates, daughter Lori Gore, son-in-law Thomas Cullinan, and her late husband, Paul Hunkins, who was the light of her life.

As a Florida native, Ann loved the sunshine, though many would say Ann herself provided the greatest warmth and light to those around her. At an early age, Ann discovered her passion for music. She earned a BA from Wesleyan College in Georgia and later received her master’s in music education from Southern Methodist University in Texas. Ann would go on to teach music to elementary school children in Florida and New Jersey before landing at Ruffing Montessori in Cleveland Heights, Ohio where she taught for over 25 years.

She was also an active member of the Cleveland Orff community for music & movement educators. Ann shared her musical talents outside the classroom as a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus for many seasons. Ann loved being in nature whether it was hiking in Hawaii or just spending the day gardening in her backyard. While her accessibility declined over the years, her spirit never waned. She continued to find laughter and joy through ongoing phone calls and visits with family and friends.

A celebration of Ann’s life will be held later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Ann Gore to the Ohio Foundation for Music Education.
