"Jerry", age 72 of South Euclid, OH, passed away Jan. 24, 2020. Beloved husband for 49 years of Sharon Kay (nee Detrick), loving father of Sara Kathryn DeLong (Levy Castleberry), Fond brother-in-law of Richard M. Detrick and Roy C. Detrick (deceased). Uncle, great-uncle and cousin of many.
Jerry was born in Cleveland, Ohio Nov. 27, 1947, and worked and lived in the Greater Cleveland area all his life. He was most recently employed by Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Legacy Village. A graduate of Bowling Green State University, he was a voracious reader, often reading several books at the same time. In younger days, he enjoyed running, cross-country skiing, and rowing on the Cuyahoga River.
Recently he enjoyed walking in the Cleveland Metroparks, visiting the Cleveland Art Museum, and the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. His sense of humor was clever and roguish and kept many laughing. Jerry died from complications from heart disease and diabetes at the Cleveland Clinic. Thank you to the doctors and caregivers who provided excellent care.
