Jean Lewis Stedfeld was released from this world on August 3, 2020 at the age of 94.
Jean was born Hilda Wittkopper on June 21, 1926. She grew up in Cleveland, but spent three years of her childhood in Germany. In 1947 she changed her legal name to Jean Lewis. In 1951, she married Robert L. Stedfeld, living with him until he passed away in 2003.
Jean put energy and love into making a home for her husband and four children. She used her handiwork skills to fix furniture and to crochet, knit and sew furnishings and clothes. She taught herself to cook for her family. Jean was eager to learn, and attained her GED in 1977. She enjoyed making things with her hands, appreciated music and movies, and cared about people and events in her world and the wider world.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Robert Stedfeld, her sisters and their husbands Eleanor and Dennis Black, Helen and Harry Rojak, and Gloria and Clifford Brummet, her daughter Pamela Jeanne Stedfeld, and other family and friends dear to her.
Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Mark (Karen) Stedfeld, Eric (Sharon) Stedfeld, Robin Stedfeld (Jon White), and her niece Lydia (Ken) Braun. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ellen Stedfeld, Nancy (Gio) Baez, and Abigail Tweten, her great-grandchildren Gio Baez and Lily Baez, other dear nieces Christine (Chester) Stine, and Denise (Blaine) Boles, and many other beloved family members.
