JOAN MILLER KANDARE (nee Ackerman), age 83
Passed away peacefully Sunday, May 27, 2018. She was born January 20, 1935 in Glen Rock, New Jersey to the late Julia and Harrison Ackerman. She was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. She led a full life with many friends including activities with her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, her "water babies," book clubs, theater and church activities.
She was a loving mother and opened up her home to so many, including her children, step children, friends and grandchildren.
Joan is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Barney Miller (deceased, 1971) and her husband of 28 years Ed Kandare (deceased, 2003).
She is survived by her children Carol Thornton (Shawn), Nancy Ranft (Wally), Steve Miller (Chantal) and Janice Zeuch (Bill). Grandchildren who brought her pride and joy, Michael and Jack Thornton, Brian and Emily Ranft, Lindsey, Maya and Alec Miller and Nathan, Gretchen and Lauren Zeuch.
Interment Knollwood Cemetery. Funeral Services 9:15 am Saturday at THE MAHER-MELBOURNE FUNERAL HOME, 5236 MAYFIELD RD, LYNDHURST (E OF RICHMOND RD).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: American Heart Association.
