John T Avery

John T. (Jack) Avery passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 6, 2019.

Jack was a kind, thoughtful and generous husband, father and friend. Jack is survived by his wife Joan Keltner Avery and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Jack is also survived by his three children Tom (wife Mary), Bill (wife Martha), Ann Avery Streicher (husband Greg Streicher) and seven wonderful grandchildren John, Melissa, Molly, Maggie, Bill, Jr., Nick and Ben.

Jack was born in Cleveland, OH on 6/28/27, attended Shaker Heights schools and graduated from University School in 1945. Jack served a year in the U.S. Navy then went to Dartmouth College from which he graduated with an engineering degree in 1950 and a Masters in Engineering from Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering in 1951. Jack joined his father at Avery Engineering in 1952 and was also an instructor for 5 Dale Carnegie courses. Jack resigned as co-owner of Avery Engineering and started Keltner Sales in 1997. Jack Avery was a Scoutmaster from 1969-1974, Mayor of Pepper Pike (1976-1991) and member of the Country Club for 70 years.
