Paul T. Korecko, age 99, devout husband for 67 years of Stella (deceased), loving father of Larry (Sharon), Charlene Flynn (deceased) (Martin), and Judy Regan (Michael), grandfather of Kelly Borror (Larry), Melissa Flynn (Nick Graham), Allison Flynn and great grandfather of Ashley Borror, cherished brother of Margaret (Lou), Hank (Janet), Irene (Jack) and Richard (Ann), beloved uncle of Lou (Margie, Bob, David), Margie (Jim, Chris), Terry (Jeanne, Ben, Andy), Eileen, Jim (Barb), Henry, Linda (Erol, Evan), Melanie (Art), Jill, Mark (Ginny, Tyler, Ian), Peggy, uncle-in-law of Bob (Nancy, Erin, Sarah, Sean), dear cousin of Eleanor, trusted neighbor of Marsha and Dave, dog-walking buddy of Lucky and Woody, friend of many more and loved by all.
Immigrating from Czechoslovakia as a child, Paul served his new country in the 99th Infantry in the European Theater of WWII, and was awarded 2 Purple Hearts. He hammered out a career as a respected Union Master Carpenter, first working with his father and brother at Julius Korecko and Sons, then as foreman with Gleeson Construction, building his own home where he and Stella lived their entire life together. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed bowling, bocce and golf with his loving family and friends. A patient and loyal sports fan, he watched the Cleveland Indians and Browns no matter their records. He volunteered with the Catholic War Veterans, frequented live blue grass concerts, was an accomplished harmonica player and a Sudoku enthusiast who never missed a day with his puzzles.
Interment All Souls Cemetery. Family and Friends are invited to gather for Mass of Christian Burial 10 am Thursday at Church of the Gesu, 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Hts., OH 44118. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to any of the charities that Paul was a patron of: Wounded Warrior Project, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, The City Mission, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Audubon Society.
