Rosalie V. Mach (nee Porsley), 80, formerly of Jamestown, New York, Cleveland Heights and most recently, Parma, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at University Hospital, Parma. She was born on February 9, 1943, to Jacob H. and Jane C. (Scaccia) Porsley in Jamestown.
She attended St. Peter and Paul School and Jamestown High School, graduating in 1960. She also attended Jamestown Business College, and graduated with a degree in Medical Administration. After graduating, she accepted a job at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, where she provided 33 years of dedicated care and service with both Dr. Francis Owens and Dr. Joseph Hahn. During her time at the Clinic, she made many lifelong friends and was highly regarded for her dedication and hard work.
After her 1998 retirement, she happened upon a second, unexpected career in childcare. What started out as a favor quickly turned into a new joy in her life. She and her husband Lou opened their home to many neighborhood kids in need of care; in the process, they became unofficial grandparents to so many and continued to share their hearts.
On October 27, 1979, she married Louis G. Mach and together, they had one son, Andrew J. Mach – the light of her life. Ro took all her roles in life to heart. She had a special gift of making all feel welcome and loved. Her thoughtfulness and care were so genuine; Rosalie never forgot a birthday, holiday or name. She was an avid reader and was always informed on the latest topics, from politics and current events to the latest celebrity gossip; she could hold a conversation with anyone. Ro will be remembered as a kind, loving and genuine spirit.
Rosalie is survived by her husband, Louis and son Andrew, and her many nieces and nephews, including Leah Porsley and Erin (Matt) Haugan, with whom she had special bonds. Additionally she cared for her many great nieces and nephews, sisters and brother in-laws, friends, and cousins (who were more like siblings).
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother David M. Porsley in 2016.
