Thomas Carl Brugger, MD.

Beloved husband of Sandra Russ Brugger (nee Walker) for 47 years, passed away on December 14, 2022 at the age of 95. Tom was a child psychiatrist who practiced over 50 years.  He directed the Child Guidance Center at Washington University; directed the Hannah Pavilion child inpatient unit in Child Psychiatry at University Hospitals; and served as Medical Director at Beech Brook. His main goal in his work with children and families was to give them hope.  His warm and gentle manner instilled a sense of safety and trust with highly traumatized children. Tom served as a Board Examiner in Child Psychiatry for many years. He received the Suzanne Brookhart Harrison Award for Exceptional Service to Children, Beech Brook’s highest honor.
